The Bali Hai restaurant has been a long-standing dining destination on the San Diego waterfront. It opened in 1955 and has been part of many San Diego families’ long standing traditions. The restaurant is best known for its sweeping bay front views, oversized Mai Tais and distinctive Asian fusion cuisine.
Bali Hai has been family owned and operated for over five decades, and when we visited Bali Hai for dinner we were happily greeted by owners Susie Baumann and her husband Larry. Also

Also on site for the evening were their sons Grant, Andy and Tommy. The family has worked hard to revitalize the Bali Hai property to make it a stand out destination for lunch, dinner, happy hour, and even special events and weddings.
Upon arrival, one can’t help but notice Mr. Bali Hai, the large playful tiki sculpture that stands proudly at the doors to this Shelter Island paradise. Walk through the large doors at the entrance and you’ll soon start to relax in the refurbished Polynesian-style building. Before you know it, you’ll swear you’re on island time.
Views from anywhere in the facility are breathtaking. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap around the building providing diners with an unobstructed view of the San Diego Bay. The interior, however, wasn’t always this way. Back in 2010 architect Graham Downes was brought on board to reinvigorate the San Diego landmark restaurant. His team fully restored the original internal timber structure which is made up of 15 types of wood. The entire structure was sandblasted to expose beautiful natural wood tones of brown, yellow and orange.
Explaining the atmosphere does not do the Bali Hai justice. It really must be seen in person to appreciate the beauty of the Polynesian concept. The restaurant is lit up with natural tones and Polynesian artifacts.
In addition to revitalizing the structure of the restaurant, the Bali Hai restaurant has brought on a vibrant new chef that has beautifully balanced the traditional menu items with new offerings that will whet the palate of any discerning food lover.
Executive Chef Ben Lieberman, previously with San Diego hot spot Burlap, has utilized his forward-thinking approach to develop an inspired Pacific Rim-style menu, capitalizing on the wonderful array of farm-fresh regional ingredients we get in San Diego.

“We are thrilled that Ben has already put his many talents to good work here,” said Larry Baumann, co-owner of Bali Hai. “With his background in Asian cooking and extensive knowledge of the local market, our menus will now change frequently, depending on what is freshly caught and available from local farms, markets and suppliers.”
California White Seabass
Capitalizing on the region’s farm fresh produce and abundant seafood Lieberman has introduced new summer menus for lunch, happy hour and dinner. Everything served is delicious, but the highlight of the dining experience was definitely the Crispy Ahi Tuna Tower. Or maybe it was the California White Sea Bass, or the brussels sprouts (Yes, I said it. The brussels sprouts were incredible).
Whatever you choose as your appetizer, main course, or dessert will be incredibly fresh and well presented. Paired with a fruity island cocktail and you just might forget that you aren’t on vacation. Or, like many others before you, you may realize how lucky we all are to call this beautiful city home.

Gunung Merapi kembali mengeluarkan semburan awan panas yang dahsyat, Senin (1/11/2010) sekitar pukul 10.00 WIB. Volume awan panas yang dikeluarkan kali ini terlihat sangat besar dibandingkan dengan letusan-letusan sebelumnya.Sejak menunjukkan peningkatan aktivitasnya, Merapi telah beberapa kali meletus dalam beberapa hari terakhir. Letusan dahsyat pertama kali terjadi Selasa (26/10/2010) petang. Letusan dahsyat kedua terjadi Sabtu (30/10/2010) dini hari dan pagi ini adalah letusan eksplosif ketiga.Di antara letusan-letusan eksplosif tersebut, Merapi juga beberapa kali mengelurkan awan panas atau biasa disebut masyarakat setempat dengan wedhus gembel.gumpalan abu vulkanik masih tampak menyelimuti Merapi cukup lama dan masih terlihat tebal hingga 30 menit setelah letusan. Letusan ini terlihat jelas dari Kota Yogyakarta dan menjadi perhatian warga yang berduyun-duyun keluar untuk menonton.Kepala Badan Geologi Sukhyar di Yogyakarta, seperti dilansir Antara, mengatakan, kondisi angin saat letusan Merapi tersebut berlangsung sedang mengarah ke timur sehingga daerah yang dimungkinkan terkena paparan abu vulkanik yaitu Klaten dan Boyolali. Sukhyar juga mengatakan bahwa material hasil letusan Gunung Merapi berupa kerikil dan debu tersebut bukan awan panas.Awan panas sendiri yang terlihat mengawali letusan menuruni lereng dengan jarak sekitar 4 kilometer ke arah Kali Gendol. Setelah awan panas inilah terlihat letusan eksplosif setinggi sekitar 1,5 kilometer.

Pada beberapa individu-individu, terutama yang relatif sehat, gejala-gejala dari kelemahan, kepeningan, dan pingsan menaikan kecurigaan dari tekanan darah rendah. Pada yang lain-lain, kejadian seringkali dihubungkan dengan tekanan darah rendah, contohnya serangan jantung telah terjadi untuk menyebabkan gejala-gejala. Mengukur tekanan darah, adakalanya dikedua posisi-posisi yang terlentang dan berdiri biasanya adalah langkah pertama dalam mendiagnosis tekanan darah rendah. Pada pasien-pasien dengan tekanan darah rendah yang simptomatik, seringkali ada kejatuhan yang nyata pada tekanan darah ketika berdiri, dan pasien-pasien mungkin bahkan mengembangkan gejala-gejala orthostatic. Denyut jantung seringkali sangat meningkat. Sekali tekanan darah rendah telah diidentifikasi sebagai penyebab dari gejala-gejala, tujuannya adalah untuk mengidentifikasi penyebab dari tekanan darah rendah. Adakalanya penyebab-penyebabnya terlihat jelas (seperti kehilangan darah yang disebabkan oleh trauma, atau shock tiba-tiba setelah menerima zat pewarna x-ray yang mengandung iodine). Pada waktu-waktu yang lain, penyebabnya mungkin diidentifikasi dengan pengujian: CBC (complete blood count). Jika irama-irama abnormal terjadi secara sebentar-sebentar, EKG standar yang dilaksanakan pada kunjungan ke praktek dokter mungkin tidak menunjukan irama yang abnormal. Monitor Holter adalah perekaman yang terus menerus dari irama jantung untuk 24 jam yang seringkali digunakan untuk mendiagnosis episode-episode yang sebentar-sebentar dari bradycardia atau tachycardia. Perekam kejadian yang diaktifkan oleh pasien. Jika episode-episode dari bradycardia atau tachycardia adalah jarang, perekaman Holter 24 jam mungkin tidak menangkap episode-episode yang sporadis ini. Dalam situasi ini, seorang pasien dapat memakai perekam kejadian yang diaktifkan oleh pasien untuk sampai dengan empat minggu. Pasien menekan tombol untuk memulai perekaman ketika ia merasakan timbulnya irama jantunga abnormal atau gejala-gejala yang mungkin disebabkan oleh tekanan darah rendah. Dokter kemudian menganalisa rekaman-rekaman pada suatu waktu kemudian untuk mengidentifikasi episode-episode abnormal. Echocardiograms adalah pemeriksaan-pemeriksaan dari struktur-struktur dan gerakan dari jantung menggunakan ultrasound. Echocardiograms dapat mendeteksi cairan pericardial yang disebabkan oleh pericarditis, luasnya kerusakan otot jantung dari serangan-serangan jantung, penyakit-penyakit klep-klep jantng, dan tumor-tumor yang jarang dari jantung. Pemeriksaan-pemeriksaan Ultrasound dari vena-vena kaki dan CT scans dari dada dapat mendeteksi deep vein thrombosis dan pulmonary embolism. Tes-tes meja yang dimiringkan digunakan untuk mengevaluasi pasien-pasien yang dicurigai mempunyai postural hypotension atau syncope yang disebabkan oleh syaraf-syaraf autonomic abnormal. Sewaktu tes meja yang dimiringkan, pasien terbaring diatas meja penguji dengan infusi intravena yang dimasukan dimana denyut jantung dan tekanan darah dimonitor. Meja kemudian dimiringkan tegak lurus untuk 15 menit sampai 45 menit. Denyut jantung dan tekanan darah dimnitor setiap beberapa menit. Maksud dari tes ini adalah untuk mencoba mereproduksi postural hypotension. Adakalanya seorang dokter mungkin memasukan epinephrine (Adrenalin, Isuprel) secara intravena untuk menginduksi postural hypotension.Makanan dan minuman yang cukup membantu untuk menaikkan tekanan darah. Untuk minuman, minum kopi secukupnya. Susu juga cukup baik untuk mengembalikan tekanan darah menjadi normal lagi. Yang paling penting yaitu minum air putih dalam jumlah yang cukup banyak antara 8 hingga 10 gelas per hari. Untuk sayur, perbanyak konsumsi bayam karena bayam bagus untuk mengatasi tekanan darah rendah. Selain itu, coklat, lada, hati ayam kampung/sapi/kambing, mentega, keju dan jahe merah katanya juga bagus untuk orang yang menderita tekanan darah rendah. Libur dulu untuk makanan-makanan yang asam.Gimana dengan ketimun? He he he ini mah wajib dijauhi dulu kalo gak mau makin puyeng. Oya, sate kambing juga sama kacang ijo cukup baik juga menaikkan tekanan darah. Kapan hari waktu saya tiba-tiba sering pusing, makan sate kambing sama kolak kacang ijo. Kolak kacang ijonya dibuat tiap hari. Dapat beberapa hari tekanan darah dah normal lagi
